General Information

Annual EEO Public File Report

The purpose of this EEO Public File Report ("Report") is to comply with Section 73.2080(c)(6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following stations:

KWAV (FM), Monterey, California (FIN: 7714)

KIDD (AM), Monterey, California (FIN: 7721)

The information contained in this Report covers the Period from August 1, 2003 to, and including, August 1, 2004 (the "Applicable Period"). The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

 

1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Stations comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable period;

2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy;

3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(2) of the FCC rules.

 

 

Sections 1, 2 and 3, which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. Please note that the numbers listed on Section 2 under the column entitled "Full-time Positions for Which This SourWas Utilized" refer to the number of the full-time job positions listed on Section 1.

 Section 3: Supplemental Recruitment Activities Undertaken by KWAV (FM) and KIDD (AM)

 

1. Business Showcase – Hosted by Aptos and Capitola Chamber of commerce and KWAV (FM) and KIDD (AM). February 5, 2004, 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Capitola. Thousands of people attended representing many segments of the community. Many were women and minorities. Station employees attended the event. Sales, administrative and on air personnel were all in attendance. The staff answered questions regarding KWAV (FM) and KIDD (AM). Employment applications were available. KWAV (FM) and KIDD (AM) ran airtime schedules encouraging attendance. General Sales Manager, KIDD (AM) Sales Manager, and KIDD (AM) Operations Manager attended.

 

2. Job Fair – Hosted by Community Job Fair Organization April 13, 2004, 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Monterey Conference Center. The attendees included a variety of age groups, a balanced mixture between men and women and about 20% of the attendees were black or Hispanic. Vice President/General Manager, General Sales Manager and Vice President/Programming and spoke to potential job applicants for the outside sales position and the part-time sales assistant position currently open. The Fair had 350 job seekers attend.

 

3. Career Day 2004 - Hosted by California State University – Monterey Bay April 15, 2004, 10a to 2.p.m. – Seaside

General Sales Manager and KIDD (AM) Sales Manager spoke to many attendees. Job seekers included graduates, soon to be graduates and CSUMB community members. 300 people attended with women representing 70% of the job seekers.

 

4. Community Expo - Hosted by Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce and KWAV (FM) and KIDD (FM). May 6, 2004 4:30pm to 7:30pm. Vice President/General Manager, General Sales Manager, KIDD (FM) Operations Manager, KIDD (AM) Sales Manager and KWAV (FM) morning talent encouraged about 1000 attendees to visit our booth to learn more about KWAV (FM) and KIDD (FM). Employment applications were available. A diverse segment of the community attended.

  1. Job Fair – Hosted by Monterey Peninsula College – Monterey. May 13, 2004, 10am – 1pm
  2. General Sales Manager, Vice President/Programming, KIDD (AM) Sales Manager, and Business Manager greeted and gave the job seekers the opportunity to either take an application and job description and mail the application or give us a resume for the available part-time sales assistant position open. We discussed the qualifications needed for the position and briefed the attendees about radio positions. About 250 people attended with women dominating.

  3. Business Fair – Hosted by Santa Cruz Chamber of Commerce, May 26, 2004, 4pm to 7pm.

KIDD (AM) Sales Manager and KIDD (AM) Operations Manager greeted and explained to attendees the inner working of KWAV (FM) and KIDD (AM) radio stations. Employment applications were available.
